I got the idea for this painting while watching Saiyuki, when Homura was in the lift and looked back out under his arm. I could imagine Sephiroth doing that and wanted to try and capture the look of challenge on his face.

I've used the high resolution promotional CG art as the main reference for the painting. I've changed the face but haven't tried to change much of the rest for the hair, collar and shoulder armour.

Not sure I've got the arm quite as it should be. It's resting against the door but is not in contact with his body. I've added a shadow onto his forehead to help 'tie' the arm to the rest of his body and I've mirrored the pattern of the sleeve on the edge of the lift door to help 'tie' the arm there.

I door design I spied in a background shot in the Advent Children movie. I thought it would work well here - add interest but not intrude, and make the painting look like it's out of the Advent Children world.

I was very happy with how this turned out, particularly the eyes. I just hope the 'green' in the leather and door comes out (the pic is looking very black and white on my laptop).

Sephiroth is not my creation, he belongs to square enix.
