The Angel of Chains Right-sideup, this card indicates a loss of innocence. It signifies an awareness of the deceit in others, a loss of trust but a gain in wisdom. Upside down, this card represents a fall from grace. It signifies yielding to temptation at the cost of personal integrity.
This is for Seventh Sanctum's Tarot contest [link] The card name I generated to illustrate was - The Angel of Chains.
For the painting, I relied on some self-portrait photos by Ewiku [link] as references to paint the main figure. I use Corel-photopaint and a tablet as my tools for painting.
Even odder another painter used the same reference pic I used to paint a fallen angel - I thought it was weird that we both imagined the same thing when we looked at that photo.
Ooh, I like how this looks like a multi-medium piece. I think its the way the textures are reacting to eachother. The soft elements in the back work their way to the sharper stuff in the foreground. Its a really nice contrast.
Thanks. I wanted a soft bluriness to the skin and a hard sharpness to the chains and jewellery. I tried to get the wings, wrap and hair to fill in the steps from soft to hard. I used a photo for the background architecture, tinting it blue to contrast with the wings.
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
