The Angel of Chains
Right-sideup, this card indicates a loss of innocence. It signifies an awareness of the deceit in others, a loss of trust but a gain in wisdom.
Upside down, this card represents a fall from grace. It signifies yielding to temptation at the cost of personal integrity.

This is for Seventh Sanctum's Tarot contest [link] The card name I generated to illustrate was - The Angel of Chains.

For the painting, I relied on some self-portrait photos by Ewiku [link] as references to paint the main figure. I use Corel-photopaint and a tablet as my tools for painting.

Wisdom you can only prepare by the learning.
Must be the time to paint fallen angels/demons.

Even odder another painter used the same reference pic I used to paint a fallen angel - I thought it was weird that we both imagined the same thing when we looked at that photo.
nice work :D

I think it just screams fallen! or else we were both on the same brain wave... *bum bum bum* :p
Ooh, I like how this looks like a multi-medium piece. I think its the way the textures are reacting to eachother. The soft elements in the back work their way to the sharper stuff in the foreground. Its a really nice contrast.
Wow! This is outstanding =) Great work, and good luck!

Thanks. I wanted a soft bluriness to the skin and a hard sharpness to the chains and jewellery. I tried to get the wings, wrap and hair to fill in the steps from soft to hard.
I used a photo for the background architecture, tinting it blue to contrast with the wings.
Super awesome!
